Because of the vagaries of the GWR (Great Western Railway) website being down and the uncertainty of any trains running, we drove to Swindon Brunel centre. We parked, at 10.20am and had three lovely bus rides with our ENCTS (English National Concessionary Travel Scheme. Bus passes for senior/disabled persons) cards from Swindon to Pewsey on the X5, Pewsey to Devizes on the 101 and back from Devizes to Swindon on the 49. We arrived in Swindon at 4pm. We stopped for a cup of tea and a cake in Greggs. Boy, did that turn out to be an expensive mistake ! When we got back to the car park at 10 minutes past 6hrs stay we were charged £23 for parking!!!!. If we had not stopped in Greggs it would have been only £8.50. Talk about learning the hard way.

I live a five minute walk from the town centre - you could have parked on my drive in return for a Greggs sausage roll.   Grin

Seriously though there are often tales of people being caught out in the town centre car parks.  With the railway station car parks frequently full by 8am the council set the prices to keep spaces for short stay customers.

Enjoyed trips on all three of those buses - the 66 to Oxford or the 46 to Hungerford are also worth a trip.

If they did not enforce the 6 hours then there would not have been space for you to park in.
