Transport minister Jo Johnson has quit the government, calling for the public to have a fresh say on Brexit.

The MP^▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context), who is Boris Johnson's brother, said the UK^▸ (United Kingdom) was "barrelling towards an incoherent Brexit that is going to leave us trapped in a subordinate relationship to the EU^» (European Union - about)".

It was "imperative" to "go back to the people and check they are content to proceed on this extraordinary basis".

He voted to remain in the EU while his brother was a leading Brexiteer.

Always seemed to have trouble mastering his brief at Transport, unlike his brother
 who appears to have trouble keeping his briefs up !

So no great loss as far as I can see ,hopefully we get someone with a bit more of a clue to replace him ?..

Was the problem with him or his boss?  I suspect that latter.  And remember he was only there 10 months, not very long to make a mark as a Junior Minster.

Astonishing how quickly Mr Johnson's departure has slipped off the "recent posts" pages with posts on Dawlish (shut again due to high tide and storm) ... and more positive news on Filton Bank.

What has struck me that in the day is was Patrick McGlocklin as Transport Secretary and Claire Perry as Rail minister that it was the rail minister we always heard about.   Yet in the days of Chris Grayling as Transport Secretary and Jo Johnson as rail minister, it always seems to have been the transport secretary who's name has been on pronouncements.  Is this a deliberate change in management style at the DfT^» (Department for Transport - about), or a reflection of the competences and characters of the players?

It is political jockeying for position for the inevitable vacancy at No 10.  Currently in Westminster there is no "for the greater good" its all about and this effects most if not all the senior rolls in all the parties they are becoming self centred and obsessed in their future hiding behind the pretence what they are doing is in the Nations interest.

My thoughts also, but his behaviour over the last eight years has shown [to the country at large, at least - but maybe not to the blinkered political class] anything but leadership material.

I'm sure it must ring a bell ( see wot I did there?) with Sir Patrick McLoughlin to have his name mispronounced and mispelt, more often that not. Not always that easy to confuse a bell and a lake.

We must remember that the resignation was due to differences regarding Brexit, and nothing to do with transport policy (except VERY indirectly in so far as Brexit might affect international transport)

I therefore do not expect any changes to transport policy as a result of this departure.
