The felling of trees in Cornwall by Network Rail has sparked controversy (link below.)

The company has cut down some mature trees along the edge of the Penzance to London Paddington line near Menheniot.

At the end of the day its Network Rail's land, alot of which has become seriously overgrown. The stretch in question is also on the climb away from Menheniot station in the down direction so felling of large trees should help adhesion in the autumn leaf fall season. There is also a safety issue, a class 153 unit was seriously damaged colliding with a tree just up the line at St.Germans a year or so back.

Not being funny, they are only trees! If they are going to cause hazards/delays (Falling, Leaves causing SPADS/Overshoots) then they must go!

just a thought but BR▸ (British Rail(ways)) back in the 1960's Never let Trees grow on the line side! No problem with cutting em down cause they never grew.
