Chris Loder, formerly (I assume that) with SWT (South West Trains) / SWR» (South Western Railway - about) was elected as the Conservative MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) for Dorset West last week.  Congratulations, Chris.  As the 'key name' behind SWT/SWR's extra trains around Yeovil Junction to Pen Mill, Frome, Westbury and Salisbury, and I think the Corfe Castle service, Chris has already had quite an upward influence in the area.

Now - if he can get an overdue service improvement on the HoW (Heart of Wessex line (Weymouth - Yeovil - Frome - Westbury) or Heart of Wales line (Swansea - Llanelli - Llandrindod - Craven Arms - Shrewsbury), depending on context) and help his colleague Andrew Murrison persuade SWT to stop at Dilton Marsh (( got as far as RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) feeds, but sadly pulled )) there will be a lot of people really thankful.  Good to have a public transport aware MP in Dorset

New MPs muscle in on South Western Railway guard row in bid to end impasse

They have been "inundated... from many constituents whose lives are being severely disrupted"

Two newly-elected MPs have stepped in on a two-year row between South Western Railway (SWR) and a union in a bid to end the impasse.

Liberal Democrats Sarah Olney and Munira Wilson, alongside joint acting party leader Ed Davey, have written identical letters to the train operator and the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers)) union urging them to meet to try and end the stalemate over guards on trains.
