We found this lovely pupper on our 20:57 train from Newbury to London Paddington this evening. He’s being looked after at Reading and having a lovely time, but would very much like to see his humans now. Please share this post and help us reunite them 🐶

Who could possibly forget their dog on a train ... but then who could possibly forget their daughter in the pub.

Delighted they have been reunited.   Relieved that the lost property did not get sent to Bristol - huge respect for the work done there, but added heartache and I'm sure a major distraction for the staff looking after the more regular (and inanimate) stuff.

Many years ago, a lady left her two young children on the bus I was driving. On arriving at the terminus they were just sat on the back seat quietly, downstairs. It turned out their mum had got off the bus two stops earlier talking on the phone. I turned the bus around and decided to contact base and take them out of service to there when, on the return back towards town, the mother flagged me down at a bus stop. I had some very harsh words to say to this woman.

A couple of years later on the Loddon Bridge park and ride, a woman was so desperate to be on the next departing bus that she forgot about her child strapped into the back seat of the car and headed for town. The security guards noticed the child still sat in the car and spent 45 minutes waiting for the bus to return from town pulling faces and so on to try and entertain the child.

For an amusing but touching fictional example of this, I commend Garrison Keiller's short story "Truck Stop" in his collection "Leaving Home". Not sure if there are any fans on the forum, but this is one of his best.

I recall an episode in my then local pub in southeast London.
At about 01-00 a baby was found abandoned in the pool room. This put in the landlord in a quandary, since the pub should have closed at 23-00, and any child found before that time or shortly thereafter could have been reported to the police. Cant really call the police at 01-00 though.

Some time later the owner of the child came back asking if they had left it in the pub. The offhand reply by the landlord was a classic "Oh, was it yours, no one wanted it so we threw it away, sorry"

For clarity is should be explained that the unfortunate infant was not actually thrown away or otherwise maltreated, but was being looked after by a female employee.

Apparently two cats were left on a Portsmouth/Cardiff train last week.  Control were appealing for ?mews?.

That is very sad, and I hope that the cats were properly cared for before being reunited with their owners.
If unwanted or abandoned, I hope that an animal rescue charity was able to care for the poor cats.
