Following the cab ride video of the first SuperFast Bristol to Paddington service last month, GWR (Great Western Railway) have now released a cab ride of an HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) journey from Plymouth to Paddington on the last day in service (18 May 2019).  I will not comment on the journey (so as not to spoil the video for anyone) but will say that if you have the volume high for the engine sounds, you may want to turn it down when in a station since the buzzer is quite high pitched and loud.

Yes, the HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) has a pretty annoying buzzer sound, especially given loose wiring meant that on some sets you’d get it sounding spuriously on occasions!

Wasn’t that why the practice of the driver repeating what they received back to the train manager was introduced?

Had a watch of this....very interesting.

What stood out for me is how well the steepness of the Devon banks stands out - especially the tops at Hemerdon and Dainton. Also how twisty the line actually is between Plymouth and Newton Abbot, and how slow it is (60mph for most of that section).

Good cab video that.  Just the right focal length to give a pretty accurate look at what the driver sees.  So many cab videos go to the widest angle possible which gets plenty of peripheral detail and an impression of speed, but isn't realistic.  I like the rear view camera as well.

I though the quality of the video was rather poor (over-compressed), most visble on the fiddly details of the OLE (Overhead Line Equipment, more often "OHLE"). Compare this other one of a St Pancras-Derby trip which (for some reason I now forget) I came across, which copes much better.

I have to say I can't see too much difference at 1080p.  The Plymouth one is well over twice as long though, so might have had to be compressed slightly more - and was also recorded in less bright conditions.
