From the TransWilts website

Quote
Travellers using the TransWilts line are being warned that engineering work will affect services each weekend from the 9th until 31st January.

There are minor changes to Saturday times on the 9th, 16th and 30th but during the middle of the day a change of train will be required at Chippenham to reach Swindon.   On the 23rd all services from Westbury will terminate at Chippenham where buses will be available to Swindon and trains will run to Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads.

On Sundays 10th, 17th and 31st all services will run between Swindon and Westbury but you will need to check journey planners as many times will have changed. The usual Sunday morning bus service from Warminster via Westbury and Melksham to Swindon will run as normal.   On Sunday 24th all services from Westbury will again terminate and start back from Chippenham, where again connections will be available to Swindon, Bath and Bristol.

These changes are to allow the retiming of mainline services while Network Rail works on the track in the Swindon area, and it is recommended that you check journey planners in the week preceding your date of travel to ensure you pick up all the latest amendments.

Weekday services are not affected by the work.

MELKSHAM train times - Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th and from Monday 11th January 2021. See http://melksh.am/trains for current running, http://melksh.am/tt for timetables.  At present, services at Melksham remain unchanged due to lockdown (but you may only travel for essential reasons), but onward connections at Swindon to London are reduced and reduce further from Monday, and other connections may be different too. Check for individual journeys beyond our line at https://www.gwr.com (sorry - that's a link to the top of their website and you'll need to search for Melksham). Expect a slightly different timetable for the next weekend - we'll publish details during next week. Screen images attached from real time trains - http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk .

Comment: Returning to Melksham? Trains that start from WESTBURY leave there 17 minutes before they arrive at Melksham, and Trowbridge 10 minutes before. Trains that start from SWINDON leave there 27 minutes before they arrive at Melksham, and Chippenham 10 minutes before they arrive at Melksham. Weymouth / Frome / Southampton services run via Westbury. Gloucester / Cheltenham services via Swindon. Change at Chippenham for Swindon if no through train is running.
