The All Party Parliamentary Group for Cycling and Walking (APPGCW) appear to have put their foot in their mouth:

Not well received on Twitter and possibly less so in cycling press

Glad to see somebody included the H&S (Health and Safety) diagram on safe lifting.
Disappointed that government money appears to have been given to such an impractical design.

Government love this sort of nonsense.
"exploring all possibilities"
"new and innovative solutions"
"more research needed"

And of course talk of such rubbish is a good alternative to actually doing something in the here and now. Like building proper trains with luggage vans.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.
