On Monday 10 January construction began on upgrades to a stretch of public bridleway and active travel route in Long Wittenham, Oxfordshire.

Only 800m, but the photo suggests it needs it. Can't say I use the route between Reading and Didcot, but Oxfordshire County Council has been doing quite a bit to improve cycle routes in the Didcot area. The Hanson Way between Didcot and Oxford is much improved. They have also improved the route(s) between Didcot and Harwell/Chilton, although I have not been that way since the start of Covid.

We're getting towards the stage where there'll be an almost completely traffic-free cycle route between Witney/Hanborough and Abingdon, and mostly traffic-free from there on to Didcot and Long Wittenham. Oxfordshire cycling provision continues to be a curate's egg but there's some good stuff happening at last.

Wantage – Harwell – Didcot and eastwards is a good route. Unfortunately you all too soon get to Wallingford, where the bridge is very bad to cycle over.
