Tourism is worth nearly ^400 million a year to Bath, new figures show. Research by South West Tourism shows visitors who stayed at least a night in Bath and north east Somerset spent a total of ^221.5 million in 2006 (link below.)

Another ^161.5 million was spent by daytrippers, and there was another ^14.7 million of other tourism-related expenditure - mainly made up of spending on food and entertainment by residents playing host to friends and families.
The total tourism income added up to ^397.8 million and supported 8,578 jobs.
