Interesting to read that the Flemish-looking gables were added, perhaps, before 1890. Wikipedia tells me that the overall roof at Bath was removed in 1897; can't help wondering if the gables might have been added then rather than the earlier date?

Blinkin' flip, that takes me back a few decades!  I had no idea what he'd done since his HTV days but it certainly seems like being struck on the head by an aircraft has had no adverse long term effects on him.

The centre gable's now been taken down completely and the scaffolding grown somewhat from its initial installation. This morning it was providing a backdrop for a group of staff forming an approachable RMT▸ (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers) picket.
