From the Independent

Quote
Calls have been made for a ‘yellow card’ system for train passengers after cases of users being prosecuted over small amounts of money.

Those caught without a ticket should be let off with a warning for a first offence, according to a watchdog.

Transport Focus urged all operators in Britain to introduce a so-called yellow card system to “make things fairer for everyone”.

Does this mean they have to get off the train and stand on the platform for 10 minutes?

The only way to 'make things fairer for everyone' is to make sure that all passengers pay the correct fare for the journey they are making. The yellow card system would require all fare dodgers to be positively identified and their details recorded on a database accessible by all relevant on-train staff. Best of luck with that. It would be far better if the rules were changed so that 'honest mistakes' were dealt with by making the miscreant pay just all or part of the fare as appropriate with penalty fares and reports reserved for those obviously engaging in fraudulent activity. I would venture to suggest that most railway staff concerned could spot the difference in virtually all cases.

"Obviously" doing some fairly heavy lifting there?

Hmm.  Roll Eyes

Cerys Piper and Theo Griffiths weren't given 'the benefit of doubt' by railway staff, just for example. Lips sealed

Chris from Nailsea - just in case you want to prosecute me, too. Wink

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Would a series of yellow cards lead to a two train ban?
