Today this service was operated by a 3-car Class 158 (158951 for those that care). For some reason this service started at Westbury rather than Warminster so I presume that there was a problem and we were lucky that
FGW▸ had a 3-car unit available. How much more comfortable the journey was compared to the usual 2-car Class 150 that is booked to operate this service.
It only goes to show that heavily loaded local journeys leaving Temple Meads between 1600 and 1800 need at least a 3-car unit. I'm not blaming FGW as I know they only have a limited amount of stock available but I am amazed that at sometime, someone decided that all units in the south west were to be a maximum of two cars.
