I'm sure my first reaction if encountered with what I thought might be a life-threatening situation would not be to whip out my digital camera (which I probably wouldn't be carrying anyway...) and showcase my vacuousness in all its glory. Am I just a traditionalist old stick-in-the-mud?

And I'm also sure with a bit of initiative he could have found an air-brake cock to yank open or something. Some people have no presence of mind...  Roll Eyes Wink Tongue

Providing details of his 'escapade' to the BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page), so it could be broadcast to everyone across the world, doesn't seem to have worried him, however?

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
