EK (Economy Klaus (web log)) has not had the best of weeks (link below.)
http://firstlatewestern.blogspot.com/2007/09/not-good-week.html

My favourite quote?

Train manager on PA (Public Address (broadcast loudspeaker announcements) or Passenger Assist (railway staff providing physical assistance to passengers with mobility issues), depending on context): "Can I explain to all passengers - including the one who just gesticulated to me through the window - that we were being held at a red signal."

Maybe he should stop criticising the staff, we've got to put up with moaning old farts like them!

I'm a fan of his posts! It's nice to know you're not the only one when it comes down to putting up with poor services, and the funny, witty style he writes them in is very refreshing.

I second that. I enjoy his witty posts and appreciate his alternative view to the things that go on between Paddington and Chippenham on his daily commute. As things improve, I'm sure EK will have a lot less to write about!

I do however appreciate that his posts arent always to everyone's tastes and we welcome everyone to share their views here at the coffeeshop.

And which bit about that was him being a moaning old fart? He was just repeating what had been said on the train.. Wasn't he?

yeah complaining about someone doing their job well, keeping people informed. he would be the same type of person who would complain if there were none or hardly any announcements - you just cant win with people like that. they are never satisfied.

i know for a fact that what the train manager did on that train was not as reported by EC - I was on that train as well. The only people making an issue of it and laughing amongst themseleves were EC and a few of his cronies on the same table who thought it funny.

Erm.. to be honest.. I think he's just trying to make light of a bad situation? Surely it's much better to do that than get all wound up, especially against the FGW (First Great Western) staff  (but any sort of wound up is bad).

Well I'm not sure the government are promoting driving to work!! I thought they wanted us all to take public transport? Which is why we do, however long it takes, or however much it costs.
