I was surprised to see a King Class plus a Castle Class come over the bridge.

I thought The Kings were too heavy for the Bridge in the GWR (Great Western Railway) Days.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

In the 1960's Royal Albert Bridge was strengthened, however I'm led to believe that this strengthing, (the bits that go rusty very quick) ARE to be removed during the forthcoming ^10M revamp due soon.


Before anyone panics additional Strengthing is to be fitted, but not on view.

Weren't some 'Kings' sent over the bridge in the war from Plymouth to keep them out of the way of the bombing? Sure I read that somewhere in my research notes for my next book... will see if I can dig it out...
