Thanks, chuffed - although I think you meant 'Chris from Nailsea' rather than Chris B  Wink Cheesy Grin

Defining just what a train has hit also seems to be rather difficult sometimes ...

From the Worcester News:

Quote
Train delays in county after animal is struck

Trains were delayed for up to an hour this morning after an animal was struck on the line between Evesham and Moreton-in-Marsh.

The service from Worcester to Oxford carrying commuters at 6.53am was halted after it hit a mystery animal.

The impact was so severe it damaged part of the train, and stopped at Moreton-in-Marsh to allow passengers off.

It has meant delays of up to an hour.

A spokeman for First Great Western said: ^The animal was so badly damaged we^ve not been able to identify what it is.

^It hit part of the train which links to the engine so we had to end the service at Moreton.^

Would the DNA kits that some public transport bodies provide to their staff have been of use?

May've helped identify the species.  Tongue Wink Grin

Line problem: between Par and Bodmin Parkway.
Owing to animals on the line between Par and Bodmin Parkway Bristol bound lines are blocked.
Train services running through these stations may be delayed at short notice. An estimate for the resumption of normal services will be provided as soon as the problem has been fully assessed.

This train has been delayed at Par and is now 97 minutes late.
This is due to animals on the line earlier.
