As I am still waiting to be reunited with my rail holder (reminds me I must phone to get authorisation to collect my tickets based on my passport - stupid system ignored by almost everywhere but Paddington) I am on tickets rather than my oyster.

I got a Kew Bridge zone+1234 ticket for 6.00 this morning with the intention of using it to get to paddington tonight - but now not sure it will work

Kew is unbarriered so it didnt get marked.  At waterloo I wafted it at the gate line (I always do that as I need to physically keep the tickets) but am now worried that since it hasnt been through a reader it wont work at charing cross (which is no unstaffed)

They may not let you keep it as otherwise you could use it like a travelcard on the tube, where it is only valid for one tube trip....

But yes, it should be valid @ waterloo or Charing Cross (it will assume you trained it from Waterloo East to CX. Regardless of whether it passed through a barrier at the rail stations.
