Next wednesday,

Arriving in Peterborough by 11am

Leaving after 1pm

Cheapest I can see with a simple A to B with my rail card is 92.50 - ONE WAY STANDARD

I can probably get splits/advances and handle myself on the way to PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains)

Just wondering if there are any splits, specific TOC▸ (Train Operating Company) tickets that can cut the price down from that etc

I did ask Ollie via twitter last night but thought I'd throw it open to our relevant panel

Nailsea to Didcot SDR = ^35.00 (07:13 from Nailsea to Paddington)
Didcot to Peterborough SSR = ^39.35 (based on connecting into the 10:00 from King's Cross)

So ^74.35 return Smiley

Good that they arent advances because I might get a job offer Monday night in which case I won't be needing to schlep to peterborough on wednesday

What are the peak restrictions returning - I am assuming I can be back at the station by 1pm

Nailsea - Bristol TM▸ (Train Manager, or Ticket Machine, or Temple Meads (Bristol), depending on context) SDS ^3.80
Bristol TM - Didcot  SDS ^16.15
Didcot - Peterborough SSR ^39.35
Didcot - Nailsea SSS ^12.20

Based on 0713 out, connecting into 1000 from King's Cross, arriving Peterborough 1045. An earlier arrival in Peterborough can be had with this combination by taking the 0644 from Nailsea, connecting into the the 0930 from King's Cross arriving Peterborough 1020.

Return permitted at anytime, remembering that you have to catch a train from Paddington back to Bristol/Nailsea that calls at Didcot. No afternoon/evening restrictions into King's Cross or out of Paddington with a Didcot to Peterborough Super Off Peak Return (SSR). And equally no restriction on the Didcot - Nailsea Super Off Peak Single at the time you will be returning.

Total: ^71.50 (EDIT NOTE. Amended total after my maths was corrected by Ollie.  Embarrassed Roll Eyes)

Just a small saving on Ollie's suggestion. Best I've found.  Wink

No issues coming back, not even affected by the evening peak out of Pad you can still use the ticket, just the usual conditon of getting a train that stops at Didcot

Erm... just seen BNM beat me, not impressed.

... and, of course, you can buy all of those tickets quite easily, using either of the two TVMs▸ (Ticket Vending Machine) at Nailsea and Backwell.  Lips sealed
