I am looking at using the 'Boris Bike' facility sometime soon and was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips for cycling from Paddington to Waterloo.

Best route and likely time taken?

For a reasonably scenic journey:

Go through Hyde Park, exiting at Mayfair
Constitution Hill, past Buckingham Palace
Down Birdcage Walk, past Houses of Parliament
Cross river at Westminster Bridge

Something like 3.5 miles and takes about an hour to walk, so probably much quicker by bike.

If you want to reduce charges then dock the bike before 30 minutes, wait 5 minutes then hire again.

Thank you for those tips. Docking before 30 mins is up will see me keeping the cost down to ^1 - as long as I can either do the journey in under 30 mins or go via a docking station en route. 5 minutes rest en route will probably be needed - I ain't the fittest bloke!

Good tip about adjusting the seat height as well. Best to give the bike the full check-up before putting my debit card into the docking station.
