Twenty years of tending to a garden at Trowbridge railway station has paid off for green-fingered enthusiasts who have scooped a top prize in the Trowbridge in Bloom competition.

The Friends of Trowbridge Railway Station won the best public garden floral display category for their array of red, blue and white bedding plants.

The garden features raised beds in the car park off Stallard Street and alongside the entrance to the platform where the station building is.

Organiser Roger Newman said: ^I have been doing this for some 20 years now and the display has been getting better and better over the years. Now as you come up to the station you walk through quite a colourful display. We^ve had a very good response from the public. People have said the area is looking more attractive.^

Roger Newman has indeed done some sterling work at Trowbridge Station, and it's good to see his efforts being recognized.  Cool

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
