Today I had to look up time between Whitchurch (Hampshire) to Whitchurch (Cardiff) taking me 3hrs 23mins tomorrow morning. I wondered is this the longest journey that one can do between two places of the same name solely by rail. I thought of Newport (Essex) to Newport (Wales).

So the challenge the longest journey in the UK (United Kingdom) by rail between two places in the UK

Eh?  Two places of the same name??  Shocked

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.
