06:44 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads due 09:08
06:44 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads due 09:08 will be started from Maiden Newton.
It will no longer call at Weymouth, Upwey and Dorchester West.
This is due to a tree blocking the railway earlier today
However the train ran ecs from Weymouth at 0628 before taking up the service as the  0709 from Maiden Newton.
Journey check explains that this was due to a problem with the track.
If one goes back to last night, the 2O98 BRI» (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains) to WEY arrived at 0224, having arrived at  MDN on time but arriving at Dorchester 195 mins late.

Was the ecs service to prove the safety of the track or due to crew out of time?

It was a proving run. There has been a substantial movement of earth in a cutting north of Dorchester West. An emergency speed restriction of 5 mph has subsequently been imposed at the location to give drivers plenty of time to safely stop if there is another slip that fouls the line.

Thanks, was that not the site of the sidings laid during WWI? It led into the POW camp and had special regulations as entry was wrong road.
