In a few weeks demolition contractors will move into the Loco "factory" area of Old Oak Common.  These are the buildings if you look at OOC (Old Oak Common (depot)) right in the north west corner, built just over 100 years ago there used to be the famous 4 turntable roundhouse and the coaling stage (demolished at the end of steam) what was left at the end of steam was used for heavy maintenance of main line diesel locos stores and amenities.  Also to be demolished is the "Pullman" and lift shop, this is the longer build of lighter coloured bricks just behind the current FGW (First Great Western) sheds.

The area is being cleared as part of the Crossrail project

Sad news indeed. I worked there for a while, I remember some quite big jobs still being done in the Factory, including changing a main generator on a Class 50. And also an "official" visit by the then General Manager Leslie Lloyd; he spotted a crippled RUK (ie Mark 1 full kitchen car) blocked in against some stops that had been labelled up for repairs at Swindon for more than a week. Someone on the operating side (which was a great relief to us in CMEE!) got a b******ing as only Mr Lloyd could deliver!

I wonder if there's any chance of a visit before it's all flattened?
