Trains are running next Saturday (15th July 2017) from Chippenham and Melksham to Trowbridge and Westbury. Excellent chance for a day trip to Weymouth or to Weston-super-mare!

From Facebook - (original here)

08:25 from Melksham to Weymouth at 10:57, changing at Westbury. Return at 17:28, change Westbury again and arrive Melksham at 19:47. Adult day return £17.50, children 5 to 15 half price, under 5s and dogs free of charge. Three adult tickets for the price of 2 (Groupsave) and you can use of those adult tickets for a child if you are 2 + 1 to save you money.

Also 08:25 from Melksham, change at Trowbridge and Bristol Temple Meads, to Weston-super-mare (arrive 10:21). Return at 18:01, same changes, back into Melksham at 19:47. Same prices as Weymouth.

Note these times are for 15th July only, due to engineering changes. Please check for times on other dates.

Train leaves Chippenham 10 minutes earlier, gets back in the evening 10 minutes later. Car parking charges apply at Chippenham; car parking at Melksham Station is free for rail users. Buy your tickets at the station just prior to departure of (GroupSaves from Melksham) from the train manager once on board.

Saturday day trips to Weymouth are normally ruled out by the normally very early (18:32) last service from Westbury via Melksham to Chippenham and Swindon.    On Sundays, and on Mondays to Fridays, there's a 19:32 service which connects from Weymouth and (three cheers) that's running next Saturday too.   If only that could be a permanent edition to the timetable it would make a huge difference for weekend leisure trips!

The 19:32 from Westbury via Melksham, and the Night Riviera Sleepers, run 6 days a week (not SATURDAYS) - are there any other GWR (Great Western Railway) trains that have this running pattern, and if so how does it fit in with passenger flows?
