With all the obstructions that Europe has been putting in our(U.K.) way its a good idea.

Not to mention the Olympics in France  and Euros taking place in Germany.

The initial statement from the French Transport Minister about the success of the German ticket should not be taken at face value.

A report a couple of weeks ago on the German ZDF television network showed that while the €49 ticket increased the use of trains on those corridors already well served by trains it had little or no effect in moving people off the roads and onto public transport in those areas where the transport offering was limited in frequency or coverage.

As a way of promoting the general green agenda its effects are very, very limited.

What an excellent confirmation of the need for an appropriately frequent service ...  Transport providers running local services less that hourly (2 hourly on long distance journeys?) please note.

Wouldn't it be great if there was some 'club' or 'group' the UK▸ (United Kingdom) could join that would allow them to have a voice and perhaps prevent such obstructions?

Oh, hang on. There was such a club. The UK rescinded it's membership.

I may be wrong, because I have only ever used a Devon Day Ranger ticket, but I would have thought that the fairly extensive catalogue of Rover & Ranger tickets, together with monthly Season tickets, has this part of the UK▸ (United Kingdom) rail market pretty well covered already.

And I would suggest the last thing that is needed just now would be a further complication of the UK rail ticket portfolio.
