From journeycheck
06:40 Penzance to Bristol Temple Meads due 11:16
06:40 Penzance to Bristol Temple Meads due 11:16 has been reinstated.
It will be started from Exeter St Davids.
It will no longer call at Penzance, St Erth, Hayle, Camborne, Redruth, Truro, St Austell, Par, Lostwithiel, Bodmin Parkway, Liskeard, Menheniot, St Germans, Saltash, St Budeaux Ferry Road, Keyham, Dockyard, Devonport, Plymouth, Totnes, Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Dawlish.
This is due to a fault on this train.

That's of no use to anyone waiting between Penzance and Dawlish!
Reinstated maybe but only partly.
Raises hopes West of Exeter to hear it's reinstated, only to be dashed reading on.
Perhaps 06:40 Penzance to Exeter has been cancelled.
Then an 'additional' train from Exeter to Bristol at 09:54

If the train you intended to catch isn't going to depart from your station, then I think that is a cancellation of your train.  The fact that the service is calling at other stations is hardly relevant to you or your journey

If it isn't calling at both the station you intend to join and the station you intend to leave it at, in customer terms that's a cancellation, however it's dressed up.

Classic is those occasions when the Brighton to Great Malvern train only gets as far as Hove!

So I'm at EXD» (Exeter St Davids - next trains).

If they add an additional service, I have to check that it's still calling at my destination. If it's reinstated & I was aiming to catch it, I *know* it's going where I want to go.

So, winners & losers. Alll the info is in that message should you choose to read it *all* for everyone.

What I do find confusing is that that imaginary Brighton - Great Malvern train that is cancelled between Hove and Great Malvern appears in the "Journey Check" under "Other Train Service Updates" - not under "Train Cancellations" - though I appreciate that if it were under "Cancellations" all those people wishing to catch it from Brighton to Hove might also assume their train is cancelled. A separate "partial cancellations" would perhaps be useful - as would a removal of the "This train will be formed of 4 coaches instead of 3" notifications - which are as much "clutter" as the profuse apologies over station tannoys that your train is now expected to be 1 minute late.
