Although Community Rail is stated (or was when I applied for TransWilts membership) as being intended to get more use existing services and not new services, I am posting here under "Campaigns" - a final call for entries to the Community Rail Awards which take place in Swansea next March.

Online entries are closing Monday 9 October at 17:30! This is your FINAL reminder to complete and submit your entries before the closing deadline!

Click here to visit our dedicated Awards webpage, covering everything you need to know about entering the Awards, as well as support available for preparing entries!

You can download the full Entry Booklet, (includes all the category criteria and rules of entry). Plus there are details of our ‘It’s Your Station’ toolkit – designed specifically to support station adoption and friends groups and the FINAL drop-in advice session ( Mon 9 Oct 10:00).

Realistically, if this is a new topic to anyone involved in Community Rail it's going to be far too late for you to rush something in - however, it triggered me to thinking why I'm not scheming with people here-abouts to put in for an award or two this year.  And it comes down to a depression about not having a marketable product I can be proud of.   Even in the days of two trains each way per day, we had a product that could be sold in a niche user market, but at present we don't even have that - we have a failure of reliability where every time someone catches a train at my suggestion, I have my fingers crossed that they'll be able to make it back home without emotional / mental concerns.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
