I've actually been on one of those. Cycled it about 16 miles - surprisingly enjoyable and we must have reached about 20mph on some stretches. Give the locals a good flail!

I'm quite happy to simply point out that with traffic at 2006 levels and frequency on the line, there would be ten passengers standing for every one who managed to get a seat - and that's assuming Driver Only Operation.  But to be honest I'm rather worried about how safe it would be to stand on this.
