Hi, I need proof of FGW^▸ (First Great Western) train delays on December the 5th and a few other dates; how do i get these? PLEASE HELP.

your going to have to give a bit more information...were you delayed on a specific service? all you need to do is fill in a tell us your views/claim for compensation form send it in

It is ultimately your responsibility to make note of delays to trains in order to claim compensation, in order to protect against fraudulent claims.

it might not be for compo though. I quite often have to prove the train was late/cancelled at work if i am late.

Yes, as others have posted, you will need to be rather more specific about which journeys are involved.  The information will be available (it's preserved on various railway computer systems, as it's needed for all sorts of official purposes), but you do have to be specific about what particular details you're looking for.

For compo purposes you need to have sent it in within 28 days (or is it 21?). You wont be able to submit a claim for that day now anyway.

Again you need to be very specific. If I searched for every delayed train (10 late or more) on that date, I would more than likely get a few.

I know delay repay is 28 days. So must be unique. Id like to see them hunt for a delay you submitted for 2 years ago.

this has only happened to me a few times, one of the times i was commuting to college in Chippenham by train to sit an exam. sods law on the day something went wrong and i was delayed...this resulted in me being late and not being able to take the exam, instead of leaving the station and then having to pay to re-sit the exam i went to the ticket office and i asked them to write a note that i was then able to use to prove that there was actually a fault with the train so i didn't have to pay to re-sit the exam.

before i say this i would like to point out that this is in no way first great westerns fault and is entirly down to cross country... but last year i was on a service that had so many problems that it was 1 hour and 40 mins late... not only that but i had purchased a first class upgrade... when we got to birmingham we had to swap trains due to a pathing issue so i lost my first class seat due to the train being full and standing and first class removed... i got my tickets endorsed noted the times and filled out the form sent it to xc and the reply was..... this train was no more than 10 mins late and our records indicate that first class had seats available...... short of videoing it and taking a solicitor im not sure what i could have done to prove it?
