I'm tempted to do an all line rover for my next week off work.

My idea is to go for the Up sleeper on the Friday night after work.

The sleepers first stop after midnight is Totnes, so can my ALR (All Line Rover) start at Totnes at 00:22, and purchase a Liskeard to Totnes single? Or does ticket validity kick in at a different time?

I want my 7 days to be Saturday to Friday.

The railway day starts at 0001.

So yes, buy the single to the first station call after 0001 on the Up Sleeper. Ensure that the start date of your ALR (All Line Rover) is for the Saturday.

If you are planning on sleeping then a berth supplement will be required. This is now £80.  Book early to avoid disappointment. As you are using a combination of tickets it'd be best if you booked at a staffed station.

I've had a look at the conditions and it looks like midnight start.

An interesting thought.  You are allowed to split at a station where a train does NOT stop if one is a regular ticket and the other is a rover.   The sleeper passes Ivybridge at 00:07, so I suspect you could split there.

Also noting that the 10 a.m. London and major station limitation refers to Virgin East Coast and not LNER» (London North Eastern Railway - about), and I suspect that conditions that apply are the ones in force when you purchase, so there may be a window of opportunity if your next week off is early July.

Good call on the first point. Saves around £4 on the Off Peak Day Single from Liskeard.

On the second point. It's something I'd be happy to try, arguing the contractual point. You are likely to encounter issues at the Kings Cross gateline and, should you pass that, on board too.

At own risk.
