An email to me from SWR» (South Western Railway - about) pointed me to this page - SWR Nectar points

Quote
Why is SWR leaving the Nectar Scheme?
SWR is leaving the Nectar scheme after four years as a collection partner. We have taken this decision as we adapt to the impact of COVID-19 on the railway and focus our efforts on running an efficient service that delivers great value to our customers every day.

When will the collection of Nectar points end?

The collection of Nectar points will end on 30 April 2021, after which you will no longer be able to collect Nectar points on your purchases through SWR.

Will GWR (Great Western Railway) be making a similar announcement?

Ask their DfT» (Department for Transport - about) masters. I'm sure they'll know the answer.

I've just had notification that GWR are leaving Nectar on 30th March, which will be the last day to collect points on ticket purchases

That my was my one reason for using the GWR booking engine; collecting Nectar points. I shall now use LNER» (London North Eastern Railway - about) website for all bookings from now on not just LNER services. I find it easier to use.

Apparently it costs a fair amount to be part of Nectar, and the Treasury wants savings. So better to cut this sort of thing rather than services.

Yes, to LNER» (London North Eastern Railway - about)....While also collecting their 2% cashback on their own services too.

I'm suggesting to GWR (Great Western Railway) that as the Treasury are obviously happy with LNER's offer they explore a similar promotion as they will lose a lot of sales otherwise....

It costs a fair amount to belong & saving money is currently the aim. Strongly suspect the hands of the DfT» (Department for Transport - about)/Treasury
