A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

Dates for the Wales ROC (Rail Operating Centre - a centralised location for railway signalling and train control operations for a specific route or region) are still in place & have only recently been updated (read:delayed)

The National SCADA (System Control And Data Acquisition,) project has got some further delays a number of ECR's destined to be re-controlled to various ROCs (Rail Operating Centre - a centralised location for railway signalling and train control operations for a specific route or region) has slipped.

SCADA - System Control and Data Acquisition, this is the "generic" term used for the telemetry control from the ECR - Electrical Control Room

The National SCADA (System Control And Data Acquisition,) project has got some further delays a number of ECR's destined to be re-controlled to various ROCs (Rail Operating Centre - a centralised location for railway signalling and train control operations for a specific route or region) has slipped.

Fourteen years in some places in Lincolnshire. A number of boxes should have closed in June and they were told just a couple of weeks ago it will now be 2029 earliest.

In the North East a relocation along the coast line from Sunderland has been adjourned a dozen or so times now, the latest date in September is now doubtful according to staff there.

Not much consideration for their staff who are being told almost at the last minute its all off.

In this area Colthrop, Kintbury (both of which should have closed five years ago) and Westbury Panel are being moved administratively to the West of England area, and Oxford Panel going into the Cotswolds area. Won't mean anything operationally but shifting things away from the TVSC» (Thames Valley Signalling Centre - about).

Whether it will delay further a move to Didcot is unknown at the moment.

SCADA - System Control and Data Acquisition, this is the "generic" term used for the telemetry control from the ECR - Electrical Control Room 

This should not be confused with SNAFU (Situation Normal: All Fouled Up (I have toned down the F word)) - Situation Normal: All Fouled Up, which also seems to be the 'generic' term used for the telemetry control from the ECR ...  Roll Eyes Tongue Grin

Electrification SCADA (also known as Supervisory or Supie) should not be confused with signalling.  SCADA is about traction power control, it can very effectively stop all trains over a very wide area even non electric trains in an electrified area.

The SCADA for the 3 HEX 25kV locations is currently at ............................ Romford!!!! will be moving to Didcot at some stage.   ECR's controlling a very wide area is nothing new York ECR for instance controls all the traction power on the ECML (East Coast Main Line) from Moorgate (London) to Shilbottle (Northumberland) and has done so since 2001

It should have gone to Didcot already, the jobs were advertised and filled some months ago, in fact I thought it had moved already, but obviously not.

Always makes me think of Stewart Lee, for some reason. Do the local youth still systematically modify the road signs there nowadays?
