Here is an interesting one.... starting at bristol pathfinder spitfire tours are running a tour (its one way as its returning stock from a previous tour) down to taunton-exeter st davids-barnstaple-exeter st davids-exmouth-exeter central-yeovil junction-yeovil pen mill then upto preston via birmingham new street (and melksham!!!!)  price for standard ticket is 55 pounds and it may be worth doing this and getting off at birmingham where it arrives at 1730 .... an advance single is available for 19 pounds back to exeter  (correct as of 2130 on 1/08/11) this is happening on the 17th 16th of october and more info is on the pathfinder spitfire site ..... anyone else up for it>?

Can't find any information about this railtour on Pathfinder's website.

Have found some details over at Spitfire Railtours website though:

http://www.spitfirerailtours.co.uk/Future%20tours2.htm

Also Spitfire Railtours say this tour is on the 16th October, not the 17th. A Sunday makes far more sense than a Monday.

Doing the two branches behind a 'Growler' from Temple Meads is a tempting proposition. If I can find a spare ^35.

Yeah, but that bumps up the price a bit more and means going all the way to Birmingham, unless a stop is added at Swindon......

There has been a change of plans for the 'Exe Tractor' railtour. For operational reasons it will no longer be visiting Barnstaple.
