No problem - especially as the ongoing connection to Salisbury, Southampton and Portsmouth at Westbury was made, which is used by a high proportion of people on this train.

Alterations to services between Plymouth and London Paddington via Taunton

Due to a broken down train at Hungerford the line towards Reading is blocked. Disruption is expected until 18:00 05/09.

Train services between Plymouth and London Paddington via Taunton and Exeter St Davids may be delayed or diverted via Swindon.

Customer Advice

Due to a broken down train near Hungerford, trains towards London from the west of England are being diverted, and calling additionally at Swindon, adding approxinately 15 minutes on the journey. For customers who are travelling to Pewsey, please alight at Swindon where road transport will be provided.

Customers travelling to Hungerford or Newbury are advised to stay on the train to Reading, and change.
Replacement road transport services are conveying passengers between Swindon and Pewsey in both directions until further notice.

No advice or alternative arrangements (that I have seen yet) for customers to and from Melksham - ever felt treated like second class citizens?

Ah ...

Additional Information

If you are travelling from an unstaffed station please use the Customer Help Point or contact National Rail Enquiries on 03457 484 950 detailing the total number of passengers in your party and your intended destination. This will enable us to get suitable replacement transport to you as quickly as possible.

As there are always passengers on and off at all stations, why wait until someone requests suitable transport?

Maybe they need to know how many need transport & to which destinations - are we sending a single taxi, multiple taxis, a minibus or multiple minibuses or do we need a coach?

Logic might suggest transport along the line of route  Cheesy

If  they send nothing at all until requested, they have a sporting chance of getting off cheap because people give up - at the expense of keeping people waiting for ages and loosing a lot of goodwill.

I would agree that for stations with an oder of magnitude less passengers - the Chetnoles and Beer Hacketts of this world - there is sense in finding out if there are passengers to carry ...
