Fair play to the Dorset Echo for the highly appropriate picture chosen to illustrate the story - such accuracy will never catch on.... Wink

might London to Plymouth in 3 hours be achieved more easily by upping the speed limit on the Reading to Taunton line which is nice and straight and has few stops for the fast services but never rises about 110mph?
It's nice enough, but I don't think that straight is very appropriate word to describe much of the Berks and Hants line...

The likelihood is that they'll have had to buy a ticket to get back onto the platforms later that day however....

The Sunday service in IMHO (in my humble opinion) is awful. The First "Bristol bound" train leaves in the Afternoon. Considerably less than ideal and the last return to Frome being 20:49 (Bristol Temple Meads - Weymouth Train). Not great really.

I quite agree with you thetrout that the Sunday service at Frome is poor, although not quite as bad as you suggest - the first train to Bristol leaves at 0925 (0939 from 8th December). Granted, miss that and it's almost a six hour wait for the next one......... Shocked

Some good news for any Christmas shoppers is that an additional train is running to Bristol leaving at 1101 for the next three Sundays  Smiley
