Even straightforward tickets will not always operate other companies gates.  This weekend my single Trowbridge to Stevenage would not operate LU gates at Paddington (H&C) or Kings Cross and LNER» (London North Eastern Railway - about) gates at Kings Cross or Stevenage.  Coming back today gates at Stevenage would not work. I then did a cross platform change at Farringdon (so no gates) but the ticket worked the gates at Paddington, both LU at Praed Street and mainline. As anaside my train from Farringdon to Paddington was an old fashioned circle service, heading for High Street Ken. - Didn't know they existed at all nowadays

I thought the same but I was on one last week.

When I got on at Kings Cross the destination blind said Hammersmith, but between Baker Street and Edgware Road an announcement came over the intercom saying "This train's destination has now changed"

As most people on H&C westbound trains bail out at Paddington anyway it wouldn't have caused too much of a problem, although doubtless there would have been some off to Westbourne Park, Latimer Rd etc who suddenly found themselves having an unexpected change mid-journey

Did that yesterday - my late morning circle train from King's Cross to(wards) Hammersmith was amended enroute to "go around again".  Manual announcement, automatic announcement, manual announcement ... lots of grumping from passengers.    I think they do it to even out the timetable if things are out of place. Rather like turning back Penzance to Paddington trains at Reading.

There did appear to be some disruption on Sunday. On arrival at Farringdon the display said Circle Line 1 min; Hammersmith 2 min; Hammersmith 3 min.  Next Uxbridge 5 min
