Sad news from the Plym Valley Railway - hopefully the perpetrators will be caught and duly punished....

Plympton Police are investigating a burglary which has occurred at the Plym Valley Railway site at Marsh Mills. This is a heritage railway that is run by volunteers and relies entirely on donations to progress the work and keep this wonderful facility open to members of the public.

Overnight Sunday 10th August suspects have gained entry into the site and stolen numerous amounts of cash donations from containers for disabled passengers. The suspects have also stolen cash donations for further restoration work on the railway and a train that is being restored. This has been heartbreaking for all the volunteers that put a lot of effort, time and money into this project.

I am appealing for any witness to this offence or if anyone has any information they would like to pass to me. Please call 101 and quote log number 255 10th August 2015.

Good heavens, how did they get away with "a train that is being restored"?
