Yes, let's hope the Western Super Mayor has the clout and desire to revive Henbury Loop plans.

Well it would appear that Andy Street managed to shoehorn in the reopening of Wolverhampton to Walsall to passenger trains (with two intermediate station reopenings) in the new WM franchise, which is cause for optimism.

Further progress on this reported - https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/black-country/further-boost-plans-bring-railway-15997921

This is particularly pleasing to me, as I was involved in campaigning against the last withdrawal of the direct service between Walsall-Wolverhampton in the late 2000s - I cant believe that was over a decade ago, where does the time go?

Yes, it was a useful link but the key to patronage is the two new stations as that should generate enough passengers to make the difference. If all of the rail and tram improvements planned come to fruition, Birmingham will have a transformed infrastructure from the situation just twenty years ago.
