I seem to that between the closure and re-opening of the station at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch the longest station name on the network was Carlton and Netherfield for Gedling and Colwick. That has been shortened now - and my news feed overnight - brought back memories of the old name for one of the two staions to the east of Nottingham on lines that fork towards Grantham and towards Newark.
From
Gedling Eye - an update from Tony Cave with community links to his local stations in very much the same way we have here in Melksham. Interesting to read his metrics / thoughts on train loading, engineering works, heritage and modernisation. I won't do a long quote - very much worth a quick read by anyone who's looking at where we are as it helps undertsand where, perhaps, we could be going right across the network.
