Behaviour change normally takes a bit more than some advertising. But live in hope.

A woman stood nearby suggested I got tested for coronavirus, suggesting I head straight for A&E!

DON'T head for A&E, ring 111. They will arrange testing, if necessary.

On the assumption that Covid-19 is not only a serious risk for people with pre-existing conditions, but also the older generation, is there a contingency plan for the Coffee Shop?

Might be worth looking at the following book:
https://profilebooks.com/the-rules-of-contagion.html
part of the Wellcome Collection, so should have reasonable medical basis. The author is at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Book covers not only medical contagion, but also crime, internet viruses etc.

Even worse for those who don't live in a metropolis like Melksham. Downland villages north of Newbury in some cases only have one or two buses a day. In other areas it can be one or two a week.
1191  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: Somerset Climate Emergency - info on transport ideas needed on: February 14, 2020, 07:17:54
Apologies, my geography of Somerset is completely lacking, so these are very general reponses.

Did I miss the bit where it said public transport should be integrated, i.e. the bus meets the train so you can make connections.

Walking and cycling infrastructure needs to be a better standard than paint. Use existing standards, e.g. Sustrans, TfL» (Transport for London - about) or Welsh Government.

Last mile delivery; possibly cargobike or e-cargobike.

In the 1987 storm one of the main cause of the National Grid lines dropping out were plastic bags. Acting like a sail when they blew onto the lines.

No. 2 with a possibly a London-centric view I initially would have ascribed to the Ham and High, but obviously not!

I thought storm Ciara was named by Met Eireann? They operate a joint list with the Met Office, not sure where the demarcation is between who does the naming.

£250m for cycling, 350 odd local authorities. Less than £1m won't get you far, especially for segregated cycle lanes or mini Hollands.

£50m for a local authority to go electric. Have I misunderstood this? After Swindon went private there are less than 10 local authority-run bus operators, or is it for the councils to give to private operators.

This proposal seeks to build cycle paths alongside the 2,300 miles of motorway network and 5,300 miles of Highways England managed A-roads in Great Britain. COST: £1.82 billion

I despair. That is probably the most fruitless way of spending £1.82bn on cycling I can imagine.

Not saying anything about the credibility, or not. But the fact that a government is saying £1.82 billion in relation to cycling certainly makes a change.

But talk is cheap.
