Sorry folks - I know some of you must be finding all these moved and blocked threads a bit irritating (but you probably don't find them half as irritating and time wasting as the moderator team dealing with them  Wink ).

Two members, to whom I have reluctantly just applied temporary but indefinite bans, have been posting repeated confidential information and personal attacks which are quite against the acceptable user policy, and the spirit of this board.   By moving the threads to a quarantine area, the moderator team can go back and look at them and take considered further actions deemed appropriate, which will include answering points made by other posters.

25th May - Update

I think that we have re-opened nearly all of the blocks on threads now, and restored all threads that were within appropriate bounds.    Checking back with what that left ... it left posts by the two members I metioned above, one of whom had sprayed nearly every board and that accounted for the vast majority of what you saw.    The bans that I mentioned remain in place and (in theory at least) that's academic as the two members in question have declared in public elsewhere that they will never return.

28th May - Update

Over the next couple of days, I'll be removing a handful of threads in which the events, including the activities that lead to two of our members being banned from posting, were discussed.  The two members no longer have the right to follow up here, and I think (on purely moral grounds) that everyone involved in a topic should be able to have their say.

This cleanup has been planned for a few days, but the decision to go ahead with it has been made very much harder by threatening emails received from two former posters. One of these included a request to have numerous members (including myself) stop attacking him personally on our boards and remove previous alledged attacks and correct inaccuracies. The most recent threatening email was very specific and calls on me to provide evidence that I have taken it on board and that I have let everyone who was complained about know. Some of the posts specifically mentioned will indeed go as part of threads being removed, but other will probably remain in situ.

Do you have something you would like to add to this thread, or would you like to raise a new question at the Coffee Shop? Please [register] (it is free) if you have not done so before, or login (at the top of this page) if you already have an account - we would love to read what you have to say!

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
