Either use the link I gave earlier, or go to the Detailed Assessment section direct.
It's remarkable that their Detailed Assessment mentions the appalling loadings on the North Clyde Electrics east of Airdrie, but this hasn't been met with a corresponding reduction in service levels. In general, rather too much of this is tinkering around the edges with rural and intercity services, whilst failing to address the state of the commuter lines, where there have been lasting changes to patterns of demand.

Combining threads here, sorry….

As I understand things currently, no other services in the Coffeeshop region are definitely threatened with removal ...- and of those 5 that are, other than being ‘through’ services to London for just 2/3/4 stations (that have no other through services to London) - and we don’t know what service is going to be offered by GWR (Great Western Railway) yet - they may be very good connections, who knows?

I think waiting to find out more from GWR possibly? Otherwise we may find there are meatier causes to fight.

Pre-Covid, from December 2019 trains, not running at present:
* Some Superfasts London to Bristol and to South Wales
* Cardiff to Paddington (second train in hour)
* Through services from Bedwyn to London all day (not just peaks)

Services promised but never started
* Daytime superfasts Bristol to London

You may think "wait".  Past experience of waiting as been "too early", "too early", "too early", "sorry, too late" feedback - there has never been a right time.  "We don't know yet, please be patient", "We don't know yet" - "ah, we have decided and can only make tiny changes now" is another way to put it.

I'm back the week after the one just coming up, and will probably learn more during that week.

So Bedwyn etc are in the same boat as Trowbridge etc losing direct trains, but otherwise all the others you list are covered by existing services. A debateable point re that second tph from Cardiff possibly, but my experience is that even some Swansea trains are currently lightly loaded & thus difficult to argue a case for the second in every hour

But other than the stated removal of those 5 through services that are discussed in the SWT (South West Trains) thread, which services fall under your definition above? As I understand things currently, bo other services in the Coffeeshop region are definitely threatened with removal - and of those 5 that are, other than being ‘through’ services to London for just 2/3/4 stations (that have no other through services to London) - and we don’t know what service is going to be offered by GWR (Great Western Railway) yet - they may be very good connections, who knows?

Appreciate your optimism Chris, but unless GWR recast the Cardiff- Portsmouth Harbour timetable I don’t see how connections could possibly improve. And as for extra services…GWR can’t even run the current timetable on this line net alone more trains. Been a poor day service wise on the Cardiff-Portsmouth line due to train crew shortages.

On Gatwick station on Saturday, announcements about timetable changes on 6th September for Southern and Thameslink. Services will be adjusted for returning schools and colleges, with extra services added, but will be reduced in other areas.

The unspoken implication is that the number of services will be the same but redistributed. If this was applied to SWR» (South Western Railway - about) would that mean that the loss of one service could be replaced by another service elsewhere.

Can't find equivalent wording to the recorded announcement on either the Southern or Thameslink web sites.
