Disappointment as Cam and Dursley train station misses out on upgrade

By Alice Knight

COMMUTERS and community leaders have slammed a new timetable for failing to include Cam and Dursley train station as part of new area upgrades.

The new service was launched on Monday, May 22, as part of the West of England Combined Authority's MetroWest programme.

Trains between Bristol and Gloucester will now depart Temple Meads every 30 minutes, stopping at Filton Abbey Wood, Bristol Parkway, Yate, and then Gloucester.

The new regular service, however, will not stop in Cam or Dursley every 30 minutes and will instead continue to run every hour.

It has caused some disappointment in the Stroud district, particularly since Cam and Dursley is the closest station for many commuters on the Bristol line.

Great Western Railway has blamed the exclusion on timetable constraints and the new Charfield train station which has recently received planning permission.
