From letters in the
Doncaster Free PressRegarding the possible Flying Scotsman ban because of "trainspotters". You should be aware, it's not "trainspotters" or "foamers" or "gricers" or whatever you want to call us.
It's the grannies and grand kids and families and neighbours who hear about it on social media but know nothing about railways or the rules of railways. They're causing all the problems.
The trainspotters are suffering the consequences.
I would agree that a significant number of the problems are caused by those who don't know the rules. Sadly, experience suggests that a significant number of problems on steam charters
are caused by the "trainspotters" who should know better. Whether the increase in volume of people out to see Flying Scotsman comes from grannies or trainspotters I wouldn't care to say.
In any case, those who know the rules and should know better should always set a good example, but haven't on various occasions been doing so.
