I recently used a Ride Cornwall ticket, I bought it at the same time as a Newton Abbot to Plymouth return from the ticket office at Newton Abbot. I was surprised when I was asked for me name and this was printed on the ticket. I can understand this for season tickets as you have a photocard but is there really a need to have your name printed a day ranger?

doesn't make a lot a sense unless you are required to carry a photocard or some other form of photo ID |

All rovers and rangers are meant to have the holders name printed on it.

Printing a name would make sense on rovers that are valid for more than one day if a record was kept on the ticket issuing system. This would facilitate replacing lost tickets. However, I'm not sure any such record of purchase is retained on TRUST▸ etc.

I don't know if this is an official reason but I'd suspect as a Rover/Ranger ticket allows much more travel than just a normal return ticket, there is more chance of it being transferred to other persons, which a train company would want to restrict.

Hmm ... thanks, Ollie! But aren't we then back to the debate as to whether there is any requirement for the holder of such a Rover / Ranger ticket to produce any ID (whether photo or not), to prove they are the person named on that ticket? C.  |

I have no problem with any of that, Ollie - but it doesn't address the issue of where it says I apparently have to give my name, when buying a one-day Cornwall Rover ticket! It doesn't in FGW▸ 's terms and conditions, certainly!  |

Isn't TRUST the train reporting system, nothing to do with tickets. Absolutely right, apologies  . I meant TRIBUTE, or FujitsuSTAR, or ShereSMART..... multiple TOCS, multiple ticket issuing systems. Integrated transport.....pah!! |

Once the Irish learn how to do a referendum properly and the Treaty is ratified you will have to give a DNA sample as well |
