Yep, online ... here are some sample fares

Off peak day return Melksham to Swindon up from £7.60 to £7.80 (+ 2.63%)
Anytime day return Melksham to Swindon up from £10.20 to £10.50 (+ 2.94%)
Overnight shift return (out last train, back first next morning) Melksham to Swindon up from £16.10 to £16.60 (+ 3.1%)

Off peak return Melksham to Paddington up from £74.60 to £76.70 (+ 2.81%)
Super Off peak return Melksham to Paddington up from £56.00 to £57.60 (+ 2.85%)
Anytime return Melksham to Paddington up from £177.00 to £182.00 (+ 2.82%)
All fares in this group "via Swindon" standard class- "any permitted" will range from £63.10 to £208.80
First class return fares will range from £163.50 (via Swindon off peak) to £307.40 (any permitted, anytime)



New "which trains are off peak" table for Melksham to London ...

super off peak valid from Melksham to Paddington via Swindon at any time on Saturday or Sunday and on Monday to Friday at: 10:01,  12:32, 14:32, 16:41, 18:01 (change Trowbridge and Bath Spa), 18:52, 20:22, 21:10 (change Trowbridge and Bath Spa)

off peak valid additionally from Melksham at: no more trains

anytime additionally valid from Melkahsm at: 05:33, 07:19, 07:52 (change Chippenham)

and return trains ...

super off peak valid from Paddington to Melksham at any time on Saturday or Sunday and on Monday to Friday at 12:18, 14:18, 19:48

off peak additionally valid to Melksham at 10:02, 16:32

Move to Wales!

As an example, my usual Valley Lines journey to CDF» (Cardiff - next trains) & back goes down from £4.05 to £3.30.  And it might even be a 150 with a state of the art bog instead of a Pacer.

Surely you just buy on the return home trip to go back later that day? With two singles to start & end the overnight shift period (unless you're on permanent nights, then you'd buy a season anyway)

If you have successive night shifts and the gift of forethought, yes, and your averaged price will fall between those quoted
