Interesting that Scotland are opening new stations, some of whom have underwhelming business cases, on the ECML^▸ (East Coast Main Line) where stations are sparse, but there’s no immediate likelihood that the GWML^▸ (Great Western Main Line) is likely to follow suit with IMHO^▸ (in my humble opinion) much more suitable settlements (Grove/Wantage, Wootton Bassett, Corsham etc.)

I note your use of the word "immediate". Agreed. But we might be wise to consider options and opportunities in which the case has a wider environmental element to it.  For the future; metrics change.
