I am doing another run on the tidal Tahmes in a narrow boat hopefully Teddington to Limehouse.

Looking up Datchet to Teddington quite straight forward every half hour 44 minutes same fare all trains with Senior Railcard.

Looking up return from Limehouse to Taplow.

The fastest I get is 1.31 journey time for ^7.75 (with railard)

However one popped up at ^16.30 and 1:56 journey time
when I looked at the details I see it gives Padd to Reading and then back to Taplow.

Why? Surely no-one is going to want to do that journey.

Why? Surely no-one is going to want to do that journey.

There are some strange routeings out there ...

Paddington to Melksham on a Saturday afternoon offers:

Paddington (13:00) -> Bath -> Westbury -> Melksham (15:21)
then
Paddington (14:15) -> Swindon -> Melksham (15:45)

(Note - the other two trains on a Saturday call at 09:20 and 21:34; we have NOT yet got the hourly service of the GWRUS (Great Western Route Utilisation Strategy)  Undecided )

Super Off Peak Single on EITHER the 13:00 or the 14:15 is 26 pounds.
First class cheapest (advanced) is 46 pounds on the 13:00 and 19 pounds on the 14:15
First class flexible single is 101.50 on either train.

Interesting to note that your could also catch the 12:35 direct train from Paddington to Westbury, and change onto the TransWilts there. But that will cost you a different amount - 28 pounds Super off Peak Single, 29.50 advanced First and 114.50 flexible first.

8F ... nothing unusual as far as we're concerned at double-backs being offered - longer route, more expensive.  It tends to be when there's a gap in the short-route trains so that the longer route ones are not overtaken.

Don't get me going about Oxford to Swindon and Westbury ...
