Its not just First's trains that are overcrowded. A concerning situation is happening in Bath with school children unable to get to and from school. Its one thing when adults get left behind because a bus or train is jam packed but its all the more concerning when its children who are left behind and cant get home especially with dark nights approaching.

Perhaps if First payed decent wages and invested in more buses in Bath rather than boosting shareholders profits, then things like this wouldnt be so much of a problem. Im not against shareholders and companies making a profit but when its at the expense of others in the form of poor service its not good.

Its when you read stories like this then you understand why I dont have much time for First as a company and now we see it on the railways too around here as well as on the buses as they cut and cut again the service they provide to make money. I know they arent the only ones who do this as it seems most companies are dominated by the quest to make profits by cutting costs wherever they can get away with it.

10 years ago I was catching buses to this school! We had 2 x double decker buses which was more than adequate serving Weston, Twerton, Southdown and Odd down. I also think there was 2 x  13C equivelant buses from Bathford. Overall, there was no problem. First seem to have cut back so much on buses and trains recently and I'm sure as you said it's all in the name of shareholder profits. And the government wonders why there's more cars on the roads... Roll Eyes

I also think B&NES washing their hands of the issue is typical of their 'not our problem' condescending attitude, never accepting any blame themselves.
